(MLB)
BALTIMORE ORIOLES (+115) AND
UNDER 7.5 BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ SEATTLE MARINERS (-120)
There are two words to sum up today's play here: Chris Tillman. Dude is absolutely a stud when facing against the AL West in his career and when going up against the Mariners. Pretty shocking that an AL West team in playoff contention didn't send their entire farm system to land the youngster in a trade, as he now holds a 9-0 lifetime record and 2.21 ERA in 15 starts against Seattle, Oakland and Texas in his career. He has been just as amazing on the road against AL West foes, posting an equally perfect 9-0 tally and 2.09 ERA in 13 career road meetings versus the AL West. Add to that, he has done a lot of that damage against this Seattle franchise, with a lifetime 6-0 record and 2.09 ERA against the team that originally drafted him way back in 2006. Amazingly, he should be 7-0 in those 7 meetings, as his only non-win start against Seattle in his career was their meeting in May in which he left due to tightness in his back, holding a 3-1 lead through 5 innings. The Orioles blew the lead for him, but did still win the game, so Baltimore is 7-0 ML in his career starts against the Mariners as well. Not surprisingly, most of the heavy lumber in the M's lineup has been silenced by Tillman in career meetings, with Cruz, Jackson, Seager, Montero and Miller combining to hit a meager .118 against him in 51 career AB. The O's big righty hasn't pitched since tweaking an ankle against the Braves July 29, but he was one out away from a CG shutout when he did it, and has been dominating foes since the All-Star break and prior. Tillman is now 6-0 with a 2.97 ERA in his L10 starts overall, while holding a pesky 0.38 ERA in his 3 starts after the break so far. On the flip side of the diamond, Walker has been spotty at best lately, and even less than that when facing the AL East in his career. The Mariners youngster is now 0-3 with a 4.31 ERA in 5 career outings against the division. He has also struggled big time at home lately with a 7.41 ERA in his L3 starts in his own stadium, but he has been much, much better with a 1-0 mark and 2.20 ERA in his L2 starts overall. As for the Under, each of Tillman's L6 outings have stayed below the total, while he has put together a monster 3-0 record and 1.09 ERA in those games. Also, 8-of-the-L11 meetings between the two clubs have also stayed under the set total. Baltimore has won at a 6-2 ML mark in the L8 meetings. Go with the BALTIMORE ORIOLES and the UNDER in tonight's showdown......
