TONIGHT'S ACTION --
(MLB)
LOS ANGELES DODGERS (-160) AND
UNDER 7.5 CINCINNATI REDS @ LOS ANGELES DODGERS (-130)
This one should be kept close and low scoring all the way through as the Dodgers seem to have the Reds number in recent years and tonight should be no different. LA is now 8-0 in the L8 meetings against the Reds while allowing a collective 14 R and .169 BA in those match-ups. They way the Reds are playing lately, that isn't any type of news they want to hear, as they are in the midst of an extremely pathetic spell in which they have now lost 9 straight games, with their pitching staff putting together a hefty 7.20 ERA in those games. Fortunately for the Reds, they are facing the lower echelon of the Dodgers rotation, but unfortunately for them, Kazmir is on the hill tonight and the once-promising veteran was pretty dominant in his one career start against the franchise. It was back in 2013 when Kazmir faced the Reds, but he tossed 7 innings of 1 R ball to get the win. He squares off tonight against Strailey for the Reds, and he has pitched better than expected since coming to Cincinnati, with a 2-1 mark through his L7 starts to go along with a 2.77 ERA, in a stretch in which he has allowed 2 ER or less in all. He faced the Dodgers last in 2014 and was pounded for 6 ER in only 2 innings of work against them out of the bullpen. Roll with the LOS ANGELES DODGERS and the UNDER in tonight's match-up at Chavez Ravine.......
UNDER 7.5 MILWAUKEE BREWERS @ ATLANTA BRAVES (+105)
This one should stick under the total when all is said and done today as this game features two decent young pitchers to go against two very struggling offenses. The Braves have been absolutely abysmal at home this season, toting a 2-18 ML record on their home turf in 2016, while now also dropping 13-of-their-L14 there as well. They have done that by averaging a mere 2.4 RPG in their home stadium and they are set to square off once again tonight against a Milwaukee staff that now holds a 3.12 ERA in their L16 overall. The Brewers offense has been struggling mightily in recent games, plating a mere 9 R and combining for a putrid .176 team BA over their L4 contests. Foltynewicz was pretty good in his lone outing versus the Brew Crew, allowing only a R and 3 H in 7.2 innings. Milwaukee is currently 4-0 in the first 4 starts made by Guerra and the youngster has been pitching well enough to allow it to happen. Guerra is now 2-0 over his L2 outings, allowing only 3 ER in 13 IP. Oh yeah, the total has also dropped a half run from where it opened at 8. Stick with the UNDER in this one.......
PITTSBURGH PIRATES (-115)
The Diamondbacks have been a good team to back on the road this season but tonight might present a good opportunity to sneak away with a win for the other side. Arizona is now 7-3 ML in their L10 away from home, but they have struggled mightily against Pittsburgh recently, with last night's loss dropping them to a paltry 3-10 ML in their L13 against the Pirates. Pittsburgh has been rolling themselves lately, now having put together a 7-2 ML mark over their 9 overall and doing so by averaging 6.3 RPG and team batting average of .332 in their L8 overall. The Diamondbacks have seemed to have Locke's number in his lifetime meetings facing them, as the Bucs young phenom has posted an 0-2 mark and 7.88 ERA against the franchise. De La Rosa has been money for Arizona in recent weeks, posting a 3-1 record and 1.93 ERA over his L5 starts this season, and he has pitched well when facing Pittsburgh in the past. He picked up the win in late April against the Pirates, tossing 6 innings and allowing 1 R on 3 H, and now holds a 1-0 mark and 1.38 ERA in 2 starts versus them. Take a chance on the PITTSBURGH PIRATES for the home win tonight......
OVER 9 TORONTO BLUE JAYS @ NEW YORK YANKEES (-110) AND
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (-105)
The Yankees are red hot right now having compiled 6 straight wins and a 14-6 ML record over their L20 games overall and tonight marks a chance for them to get over the .500 hump for the first time since early April. Hard to imagine. In their current 6-game run, the Yankees have been completely destroying their opponents with a 32-11 run differential in those games and posting a 1.70 ERA collectively as a staff. Toronto has been in a disappointing run themselves since their brewhaha in Texas with the Rangers, as they have now dropped 7-of-their-L10 overall. However, today represents a chance for both of these teams fortunes to turn. For starters, Nova has been only average in his career against the Blue Jays, holding a 5-4 record and 5.14 ERA in 13 starts against the team, while he was already rocked by them once this season as well, giving up 4 R and 5 H in only 1 inning of work out of the bullpen. Toronto has hit him pretty well up and down the lineup, but most importantly, Donaldson is 7-for-16 against Nova in his career, while Bautista and Encarnacion have combined to hit .340 with 3 2B and 2 HR in their lifetime match-ups against the righty. Estrada has a couple questionable match-ups himself here though, as Castro, McCann and Tex have gone 23-for-56 with 3 HR and 4 2B in their careers against him. Take the TORONTO BLUE JAYS and the OVER in tonight's AL EAST showdown.......
BOSTON RED SOX RUN LINE -1.5 (+100)
Pretty much same story as yesterday. Red Sox are rolling. Rockies stink. Boston is now 12-2 ML in their L14 at home and have done so by averaging 8.7 RPG and hitting .352 with 20 HR as a team in their L13 at Fenway. Ortiz is smoking right now, with a .365 BA, 8 HR and 25 RBI in his L21 overall, and Boegarts is hitting .408 with 12 RBI in his L17 overall. Not too mention, Jackie Bradley, Jr. is also in an amazing run with a near-franchise record hitting streak. Can the Rockies stop Boston?! It wouldn't appear so as they are facing the youngster Wright, who has allowed 3 ER or less in 7-of-his-8 starts this season for Boston, and the Rockies have gone a dismal 1-5 over their L6 games, while totaling only 19 R in that span and combining for a meager .229 average. Bettis was much better his last time out against St. Louis, allowing only 1 ER in 6 2/3 IP, but he has been shelled for 13 ER over 19 IP in his L3 outings overall. Take the BOSTON RED SOX on the RUN LINE here......
