TODAY'S FREEBIE PLAYS -- (YTD: 49-34 / +19.05 UNITS)
DENVER NUGGETS (+1)
This spread and the public reaction to it absolutely baffles me. Apparently about 70-75% of the public money is already rolling in on the Minnesota Timberwolves as the home favorite here, but if you take recent history into any effect, the chances of the Timberwolves actually winning today's game is pretty much slim to nil. Denver has absolutely owned the Wolves in recent years, winning 7 straight meetings between the two franchises and compiling an amazing 17-1 ML record in the L18 contests as well. 17-1!! Even better, during the Nuggets current 7-game winning streak over the Wolves, they have won by an average of nearly 10 points a game. They did barely escape the first meeting this season, with a 103-101 win in OT on their home court, but that game did also feature the trio of Rubio, Beasley and Pekovic combining for 40 points. All three will most likely be out of today's game. Rubio is obvious, but both Beasley and Pekovic are also listed as doubtful. On the other side of the floor, none of the Denver trio expected to be held out today (Koufos, Fernandez and Gallinari) had any impact on the first meeting, as the latter two were also out of the first games, while Koufos managed to score 0 points during his time on the floor that night. Denver has been consistently inconsistent lately, swapping wins and losses in their last 10 games, but they did lose their last game at a red hot Utah, so they should be ready for the win tonight. Not too mention, the Nuggets have also won each of the L8 meetings played on the Target Center floor. If you need further trends, the underdog is currently 5-2-1 ATS in the L8 meetings and the road team has put up an 18-7-1 ATS record in the L26 games played between the two teams. Roll with the DENVER NUGGETS to pick up the road WIN again today.......
WASHINGTON WIZARDS (+10)
Have to take a chance with the Wizards for today's match-up as the Celtics should still be a bit shook up and depleted from the injury to Pietrus, while the Wizards should make this a battle that either comes down to the wire, or that they somehow sneak out of Boston with a win. Washington has come up just short in each of their previous two games, losing 95-92 against Atlanta in their last game (in which Wall missed a tying 3 at the buzzer) and falling 85-83 to IND the game before. The Wizards have also been money for their backers lately, putting together a 3-0-1 ATS record in their L4 games and an equally impressive 5-1-1 ATS record in their L7 overall. Obviously each of those games had the Wizards playing as the underdog, and although the Wizards are only 2-5 ML in their L7 games on the road, they have also managed to flip the script in regards to profits, as they are 5-2 ATS in those 7 games. And 10 points just seems like way too many points to ever lay for this Celtics team, as they have struggled mightily lately, going 2-3 ML in their L5 games and 2-4 ATS in their L6. This is the first home game in 9 games for the Celtics, but they have been tough to beat on their own home court lately, winning 5 straight games and 10-2 ML in their L12 there, also putting up a 7-5 ATS record in that span. The Celtics have also failed to cover in either of their L2 games when playing the favorite, but they have gone 4-0 ATS in their L4 on the home court when giving the points. The Wizards are also 5-6 ATS when playing on 0 days rest, and are also 13-6 ATS in their L19 games played in Boston. Take the WASHINGTON WIZARDS to COVER as the double-digit dogs in today's meeting.......
