LOUISVILLE WILDCATS (+9.5)
No doubt Kentucky is an awesome team this year and will be tough to beat come tournament time if their youngsters can perform up to expectations, but this spread seems a bit too high against an equally tough and perhaps more experienced Louisville squad. Both of these teams have struggled ATS so far this season with Louisville 4-5-1 ATS already and Kentucky a pathetic 3-8-1 ATS in their 12 games. But Kentucky has been absolutely abysmal ATS as of late, going 0-7-1 ATS in their L8 games played on their home court, and 0-8-1 ATS in their L9 overall. They did pull off the season sweep of Louisville last season, winning by 15 on the road and by 9 in their last meeting at Rupp Arena. However, Louisville has been a respectable 2-2 ML in the L4 match-ups between them and 4-5 ML in the L9. That includes a 2-2 ML record at Kentucky, which would have produced a 1-1 ATS record against today's spread. The Cardinals are coming into this one fresh off their first loss of the season, losing 71-68 at home to Georgetown in their last game, and they have been awful ATS themselves lately, going 0-4-1 ATS in their L5. Kentucky is rolling, having won 4 straight and scored 82 or more in each of those games, and they have won 8 straight on their home court, going for 81 or more in 7 of those games. As a team, they have been impressive from FG range over their L5, successful on over half of their shots as a team in that span, including a nearly 38% success rate from downtown. Louisville hasn't been all that impressively defensively from downtown, allowing their opponents to connect for over 46% in their L5 games. They have been much tougher on the road though, keeping opponents to 22% from beyond the arc when not on their home court. Roll with LOUISVILLE as the huge underdogs........
INDIANA PACERS (-2.5)
Reality is beginning to set in on the new face of the Pistons franchise and it does not look pretty so far this early in the 2011-12 NBA season. They are 0-3 to start the season and have lost all 3 games by double-digits and they get to square off against a young and talented Pacers team that in any normal circumstances would run them off the court. However, these are hardly normal circumstances as the Pacers enter today's game 3-0 on the season already, and both of these teams will be playing their 4th game in 6 days, with Indiana having to even go to OT to escape with the win against CLE last night. But this Pistons team allowed that same Cavaliers team to shoot 60% from downtown against them in their first game at home this season. This should be a long night for Detroit. As a team and as a city. Watching it. Take the INDIANA PACERS to WIN this one.....
