TEXAS RANGERS RUN LINE -1.5 (+105)
The Orioles were a great story for all of 2012, but unfortunately, that should end today. The Rangers should have just too much of everything for them today and will get a huge boost in playing on their own turf, something they will definitely be looking forward to after their last series of the season in Oakland, in which they were swept for only the 2nd time this season. But Texas really should be too much to handle for this Baltimore squad and we expect the Rangers to jump out to a huge advantage right off the bat against Joe Saunders and O's. Saunders saw a lot of action against Texas from his time with the Angels earlier in his career, and fortunately for our wager, the Rangers have absolutely loved to feast on Saunders throughout his career. The lefty holds a lifetime 3-7 record against Texas with a hefty 6.48 ERA through 11 starts and 58+ IP against the franchise. He has been absolutely wretched when pitching at Texas in his career, as he has been toasted for a dismal 0-6 record there in his career, to go along with an extremely balky 9.38 ERA, allowing 33 ER in only 31.2 innings of work over 6 career starts there. He also has allowed nearly 2 runners to reach base in every inning pitched there (1.80 WHIP) and has allowed the Rangers to bat a collective .318 against him in their own stadium. Not surprisingly, this Rangers line-up has also hit him well throughout their careers, as Kinsler (10/24 2 2B, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 3 BB); Young (10/28 2 2B, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 4BB); Beltre (7/25 3 2B, 5 RBI); Hamilton (4/10 3B, HR, 6 RBI, BB); Cruz (6/20 2B, HR, 3 RBI); Andrus (2/5 BB, SB) and Molina (1/3) hit him for a combined .348 average with 8 2B, 2 3B, 7 HR and 25 RBI in their 115 total AB against him. Texas was 5-2 against Baltimore in their season series and holds an 8-2 record in their L10 meetings overall. The Rangers have also posted a 5-1 record in their L6 at Arlington against the Orioles. Darvish has also pitched much better as of late and could prove to be a formidable starter for this rotation during postseason play. He posted a perfect 4-0 record in his L6 starts down the stretch, with a dominating 1.85 ERA, while the Rangers went 5-1 overall behind him in that span. The Japanese hurler also was dominant at home all season long, as he carried a 10-2 mark when pitching in his own home stadium, while Texas has also posted an impressive 11-3 mark when he starts at Arlington, picking up the win in 5 of his L6 overall as well. Darvish should have enough to keep these Orioles off base for the most part and prevent the long ball from hurting him in the end, as he has held lefties to a .231 average and .322 OBP, while also keeping right-handed hitters to an even lower .207 average and .293 OBP overall. The Rangers have also been deadly at home during the playoffs, as they have picked up the win in 6 of their L7 postseason games played there and have compiled a 9-4 record in their L13 playoff games played in Texas. Take the TEXAS RANGERS in today's ballgame........
