NEW YORK YANKEES (-135) AND
OVER 9 NY YANKEES @ MIN TWINS (-105)
Okay, so we have absolutely rolled to 4 easy wins through this series first 3 games and we are going to capitalize once again here today as the Yankees look to close out yet another 4-game sweep against these hapless Twins. Minnesota is like a high school team trying to play the Yankees it would appear, as yesterday's win pushed the Yanks to a massive 71-27 ML mark in their L98 meetings against Minnesota. They are now 19-5 ML in their L24 meetings in the mini-Apple, including their 3-0 start to this series led by a .320 BA, 19 runs scored and 4 HR. the Twins meanwhile have now lost 8 straight games to New York, while also posting an 0-5 record in their L5 games overall, while being outscored 34-15 and posting a 6.40 ERA in those contests. Despite the fact that Eovaldi has been struggling for NY lately, it still shouldn't have any major effect as Ervin Santana comes into today's start in a miserable funk as of late, but even that doesn't compare to the pathetic numbers he has produced against NY in his career. Through his L5 starts, Santana has compiled a dismal 0-5 mark in that span with a bulbous 7.71 ERA. He has been even worse against the Yankees though, putting forth a 5-9 career mark against the franchise to go along with a hefty 6.22 ERA. Santana has been rocked over his L10 outings against New York though, holding a perfectly imperfect 0-7 record and 6.60 ERA in those meetings. Roll with the NEW YORK YANKEES and the OVER in this matchup......
BALTIMORE ORIOLES (+100)
Toronto has been red hot as of late and does own a 4-1 ML record through the first 5 meetings against Baltimore this season, but the Jays will once again be without a few key clogs in this one and that leaves the edge to Baltimore in my opinion. Stroman has been struggling for the Jays lately, posting a 1-3 record in his L4 starts, while allowing 19 R in only 23 1/3 innings of work in that span. That includes his last start in which he shut down the Phillies, getting the win while tossing 7 IP and allowing only 2 R on 6 H. He is 1-1 in 2 starts and 12 1/3 IP this season against the O's. On the other side of the hill, Tillman has been absolutely rolling for Baltimore, holding a perfect 8-0 record and ERA near 2.50 over his L11 outings overall. That has been the case in his L2 starts heading into today, as he notched the win in both, while allowing only 1 R and striking out 16 batters in 14 1/3 innings of work. Tillman tossed 6 innings of 2 run ball against the Blue Jays earlier this season, although he was stuck with a no-decision in that meeting. Toronto is 8-3 ML over their L11 games, but Bautista will again be out of the lineup for this one. Baltimore is 3-5 in their L8 games themselves, having allowed 49 runs in that stretch, and their bullpen has tossed 9 1/3 innings in the first 2 games of this series, so it's a good thing Tillman is on the mound today. Take the BALTIMORE ORIOLES at home.......
MIAMI MARLINS (-115)
Lots of reasons to like the Marlins at home here today. For starters, Koehler is on the hill and that has meant runs for Miami this season, as they have averaged 5.5 RPG in his outings. He has helped his own cause, as he has been a quality start machine lately, with 4 QS in each of his L4 starts and allowing 3 ER or less in each of his L8 times toeing the rubber. He has also posted a 3-1 mark in those L4 starts and has been equally impressive against the Rockies in his career. Koehler holds a lifetime 2-0 record and 1.93 ERA in 4 career starts against the mile high franchise. Miami has dominated the Rockies in much the same way in recent meetings, as yesterday's win improved their recent record to 6-1 ML in their L7 meetings. Miami is also 9-3 ML in the L12 games played against Colorado in Miami. Run with the MIAMI MARLINS in today's meeting.....
ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS (-140)
Philadelphia is by far the worst team in the MLB right now. They are 1-9 ML over their L10 contests, beaten down by a 75-28 run differential in that stretch and failing to score 4 runs or more in 8 of those games. Even worse, they are 6-22 ML through their L28 overall. Arizona is 5-2 in their L7 games, outscoring their opponents by a 34-18 difference in that stretch. They are also 4-1 ML in the L5 meetings against Philadelphia. Add to that, the Phillies are rolling out Eflin for just his second major-league start and the youngster might possibly be suffering from whiplash after getting knocked around by Toronto in his debut. The youngster lasted only 3 innings in the loss, getting shelled for 9 R and 9 hits. Take the ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS....
WASHINGTON NATIONALS (-125) AND UNDER 8 NATIONALS @ PADRES (-115)
These two teams have blasted the ball through the first 3 games of the series, totaling a combined 35 runs with Washington winning 2 of those contests. Just expecting a little more of a pitcher's duel here today as both of these pitchers have put up respectable numbers in 2016 and something has to give with these two offenses for Sunday. Gio Gonzalez has pitched well against San Diego in his career, holding a 2-1 record in 4 starts against the franchise with a 3.38 ERA. Pomeranz has been pitching very well in 2016 overall, with 7 quality starts through his first 13 outings, and holding opposing hitters to a minuscule .189 BAA this season. But this is clearly a tale of two different teams this season, as Washington comes in with a 23-14 ML record on the road in 2016, with the Padres 17-22 ML on their home grass. Not only is San Diego 2-6 ML in their L8 overall, but they are also 2-7 ML in their L9 versus the Nationals. Washington on the other hand is on a current 14-5 ML run in their L19 and have posted a 19-10 ML record in their L29 versus the Padres. Still need more convincing? San Diego also now holds a 12-26 ML record against teams with a winning record this season, while also posting an abysmal 1-7 ML record in day games this season and an even more pathetic 2-20 ML record in the final game of a series so far in 2016. Go with the WASHINGTON NATIONALS and the UNDER in today's matinee......
KANSAS CITY ROYALS (+105)
Okay so these two teams have been blasting the scoreboard with runs through the first 3 games of this 4-game set, plating a combined 13 runs or more in each of them and totaling a combined 43 in all 3 contests. Zimmerman has been roughed up a bit lately, posting a 6.60 ERA despite going 4-1 in his L5 outings this season. However, that doesn't include his dominating performance against the Royals back in April, in which he tossed 6 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in leading the Tigers to the win. He now has won both of his career meetings against KC, while holding a masterful 1.29 ERA in those battles. Chris Young has pitched equally as well against Detroit in his career, as he holds a perfect 4-0 lifetime mark to go with a 1.71 ERA. Kansas City holds the edge over the Tigers lately, as they have taken 3-of-the-L4 meetings by a 34-18 run differential. Kansas City has also won at a 5-2 ML clip in the L7 meetings, outscoring the Tigers by 24 runs in those games and averaging nearly 8 RPG themselves. Add to that, the Royals are currently in control of the best home record in the AL at 24-8 ML and have posted an 11-1 ML record in their L12 there overall. Kauffman Stadium should be rocking today as the Royals go for their 8th win in their L9 overall. We think they get it done. Take the KANSAS CITY ROYALS in today's Central division duel......
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (+120)
Again, this Giants team is currently one of the hottest teams in baseball and should have enough to get it done here today against a battered Rays squad. The Giants will be looking for their 8th straight win overall and they have just been in full domination mode lately, posting a 26-8 ML record in their L34 games. They seem to have no problem playing on the road this season, going 21-13 ML when playing in front of the other guys fans. Tampa Bay is currently on a 9-5 ML run over their L14 themselves, but that includes an also current 3-game losing skid at home. Going back a little further, they have now posted a 5-9 ML record in their L14 in Tampa Bay. Peavy is on the hill for the Giants and although he has only 2 wins to show for his L11 starts, he has been coming into form lately and has kept his opponents to only 11 runs allowed over his L6 outings. Through 8 career meetings against the Rays, he holds a lifetime 3-2 mark to go with a heavier 4.96 ERA. Peavy faces off against the Rays ace in Odorizzi and the kid has stepped up again recently, posting a 3-1 tally and 3.74 ERA through his L6 starts. He has never faced SF in his career, but he has pitched well against the NL when matching up in interleague play. In his career against the other league, Odorizzi has put together a 6-3 record and 3.33 ERA in 13 GS. This one should be right throughout again, but can't get away from the Giants just yet. Roll with the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS as the underdog in Tampa Bay......
