TODAY'S ACTION --
(MLB)
HOUSTON ASTROS (-160)
Can you hear what the Astros are cooking? This team is simply cooking up the cash for their backers recently, posting a 9-2 ML record in their L11 games and plating 8 R or more in 4-of-their-L6 overall. The A's are hot right now, as yesterday's loss marked their first defeat in their L6 games overall, but they have been completely dominated by Houston at Minute Maid Park in his lifetime meetings against them there. McHugh is coming off his first career CG with a victory over Arizona in his last outing and he now holds a 2-1 record and 3.41 ERA in his L5 outings overall. But back to his dominance over the A's on his own home turf: the righty now holds a perfect 3-0 record, allowing only 3 R and whiffing 26 in 22 1/3 IP against them in Houston. Graveman faced the Astros twice himself in 2015 but the results aren't nearly as good on paper, as he went 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 IP in his 2 meetings with them. Go with the HOUSTON ASTROS at home......
CHICAGO CUBS RL -1.5 (-140) AND
OVER 10 AZ DBACKS @ CHI CUBS (-110)
Not sure why we haven't been just pounding the Cubs run line over and over this season, but today seems just as good of time as any to give them the edge with the extra half run included. Chicago is now 9-1 in their L10 overall, while holding a 4-1 mark against Arizona already this season. Chicago has been completely dominant at home recently, putting together a 7-1 ML record in their L8 at Wrigley, with the starting rotation completely dominating hitters in that span. The staff has compiled a staggering 0.98 ERA and 0.89 WHIP through their current 8-game stretch and Hammel has pitched equally well there through his first 4 GS at home in 2016. The righty is 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA in those 4 outings on his home turf. He also holds a 0.89 WHIP over his L4 meetings against the Diamondbacks, while compiling a 1-1 record and 2.33 ERA in those contests. The Diamondbacks are struggling right now, dropping their 4th in a row in this series with yesterday's shutout loss and they now hold a 1-5 ML record in their L6 away from home. It doesn't matter where they are playing lately they have just been torching the money of their backers, going 3-8 ML in their L11 overall. Shouldn't expect much help from the very green youngster Escobar on the hill today, making his 2nd big league start. He was shellacked against Houston for 8 R and 10 H in just 3 1/3 innings of work. Pretty sure that wasn't the debut he or the Diamondbacks expected, but he faces a much better offense today. Not sure what they are expecting out of him today, but it shouldn't be pretty. Roll with the CHICAGO CUBS on the RUN LINE with the OVER in this early morning affair......
Best of luck to all this morning!! Let's get that money!!
