CHICAGO BULLS (+7.5)
As we saw with our write-up for the Warriors the other day, they have been struggling on the road lately and with the loss of Kevin Durant from the lineup, we suspect they will have some issues getting things going once again tonight. For starters, Golden State's loss against the Wizards two nights ago snapped what was a 4-game winning streak and what had been a 7-1 ML record in their L8 prior. What that loss was though, was their 4th straight ATS and the Warriors now hold a 1-5 ATS mark in their L6 overall. They have also now posted a 1-2 ML and 0-3 ATS record in their L3 on the road and they are now 2-4 ATS in their L6 away from home. Golden State has now failed to cover the spread in 3 straight against the Eastern conference as well and they are now 2-2 ML and 1-3 ATS in their L4 on the road against the East. Chicago also took a beating at the hands of Denver on the same night as GS did, but their loss snapped what had been a 4-game winning streak on the ML and the Bulls now hold a 4-1 ATS record in their L5 overall. They have also been money on their home court recently, posting a 4-1 ML and ATS mark in their L5 in Chi-town and Chicago has now won and covered two straight on their home court in which they were getting the points as the underdog. The Bulls have been the exact opposite against the Western conference lately though, putting together a paltry 1-4 ML and ATS mark in their L5 against non-conference foes. Chicago is 7-1 ATS in their L8 at home against teams with a winning road record, while also posting a 4-0 ATS mark in their L4 games against an opponent that allowed 100+ the game prior. Golden State is 4-1 ATS in the L5 meetings with the Bulls overall, however, they have not had that kind of success when playing in Chi-town, as they hold a 4-9-1 ATS mark in the L14 meetings played in Chicago. Go with the CHICAGO BULLS as the nice sized home underdog......
OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (+1)
The Thunder are rolling since before the break, while the Blazers have been going the exact opposite direction for a little longer of a period. The Thunder come into tonight's showdown with a perfect 4-0 ML and ATS mark over their L4 games, while the Blazers have posted a 1-5 ML record in their L6 overall and have compiled a dismal 1-7 ATS record in their L8 contests. Oklahoma City has done all of their damage on their home court recently though, as evidenced by their current 4-game slide away from home on the ML and they are a mere 1-3 ATS in that span. The Thunder are 6-6 ATS in their L12 on the road, so it does even itself out somewhat. They have take 2-of-3 on the road against the Western conference though and they are 6-1 ML and ATS in their L7 against the conference, with the only loss in that stretch coming in KD's return to OKC with the Warriors. Oklahoma City is also 9-3 ATS in their L12 against the West. Oklahoma City is also 8-2 ATS in their L10 games overall and they come into tonight with an 11-5 ATS mark in their L16 contests, regardless of conference. Portland again has dropped 7-of-their-L9 overall and the Blazers have not had any success at home in that stretch with an 0-3 ML and ATS mark in their L3 playing in their own arena. Portland is now 3-5 ML and 2-6 ATS in their L8 when playing as the home favorite. This series has been dominated by the home team in recent meetings, as the home team is now 8-0 ML and holds a 6-2 ATS record in the L8 between them. Oklahoma City does hold a 3-1 ATS edge in the L4 meetings and also holds a 6-2 ATS advantage in the L8 against the Blazers. Portland is 0-5 ATS in their L5 games played on 1-days rest, while also holding an 0-5 ATS mark in their L5 against an over .500 team. Westbrook has a chance to match Wilt Chamberlin for 2nd place in the NBA record books for triple doubles in a season with one tonight and we suspect he should achieve that status, as he has rolled off 4 straight triple-double games, while also scoring 40+ in two of those games. Take the OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER on the road here tonight......
(NCAA BB)
IOWA HAWKEYES (+12.5)
Great spot to pick up the cash on a double-digit Big Ten underdog and we won't pass it up, regardless of how great the Badgers have been playing on their home court this season. Iowa comes in with 2 straight wins at Maryland and at home against Indiana and they do hold a 5-3 ATS record in their L8 overall. They are also 5-3 ML in that stretch with their only 3 losses coming by less than today's spread, as they lost against Illinois (70-66), at Michigan State (77-66) and at Minnesota (101-89 OT). This one is more about Wisconsin though, as this team comes into tonight in a bit of a tailspin lately, having dropped 2 straight on the ML and now hold a 1-4 ML record over their L5 games. They have been even worse for their backers lately, compiling a dreadful 1-6 ATS record in their L7 overall and although this team is 4-1 ML in their L5 on their home court, they are 2-3 ATS in those games. They are now 5-5 ATS as the double-digit home favorite this season. Iowa is now 4-12 ATS in their L16 when playing on the road, although the underdog has the decided edge in this match-up with an 8-2 ATS advantage in the L10 meetings. Wisconsin has won 6 consecutive meetings on the ML and 4 straight ATS, although only one of those wins came by more than today's spread and 3 of those games were decided by 4 points or less. Iowa is 1-3 ML and 3-1 ATS in the L4 meetings played on the Badgers campus since the 2010 season, with 2-of-the-3 Wisconsin wins coming by 4 points there. Roll with the IOWA HAWKEYES in this Big Ten battle......
TULSA GOLDEN HURRICANE (+17)
This one should be much closer than this near 20-point spread would suggest and we actually might even lay a very small wager on Tulsa for the outright upset. Not necessarily expecting the ML wager to cash as SMU humiliated the Golden Hurricane in their lone meeting already this season winning by 23 points about a month ago and the Mustangs now hold a 5-1 ML record in the L6 meetings between the two schools. Blowouts are not the norm in this match-up as 18-of-their-L19 meetings have been decided by 12 points or less with 15 of those meetings being decided by less than double-digits. The road team has been the team to back in this series as well, posting an eye-popping 23-4-1 ATS mark in the L28 meetings between the AAC foes. Tulsa has won 2 straight coming into tonight -- albeit against the lower-tier of the conference in East Carolina and South Florida -- and this team does come into tonight with a paltry 2-5 ATS mark over their L7 games. Tulsa does surprisingly hold a commanding 9-1 ML record in the L10 meetings played on the SMU campus. Tulsa has dropped each of their L3 road games by 20+ points, but they did pull out a shocking outright upset against the Mustangs at Moody Coliseum and are hoping to equate their recent run into success once again tonight. SMU has won 11 straight overall and is now on a 20-0 ML run on their home court. Maybe a ML win is a bit too much of a task to ask of this Golden Hurricane team, but they should be able to keep this one closer to a 10-point loss as opposed to a 20-point loss. Roll with TULSA in today's meeting.....
MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS (-7.5)
It seems as if the younger Pitino has his ball club playing a higher caliber of basketball currently and we will give them the edge on their home turf where they have been playing well lately and have historically owned the edge in this rivalry. Minnesota comes into tonight having won 7 straight on the ML, while holding a 6-1 ATS record in those contests. Five of those wins for the Gophers have come by 9 points or more and their L3 wins include a 5-point OT win over Michigan, a 14-point blowout win at Maryland and a 10-point win against Penn State. The Gophers have won 4 straight at home and they hold a dominant 17-3 ML mark on their home turf this season. Eleven of those wins have come by double-digits, including 3 of their Big Ten wins. They are 5-1 ML and 4-2 ATS when playing as the favorite at home against a conference foe. Nebraska has lost 2 straight on the ML and comes into tonight with a 3-10 ML record in their L13 overall. They are 4-7 ATS in their L11 games and the Huskers have been even worse when playing away from home recently, holding a 1-5 ML and 2-4 ATS mark in their L6 on the road. This has been a series dominated by the home team in recent seasons as the home team is now 7-0 ML and ATS in the L7 meetings between the two schools, while the Gophers have picked up 3 straight wins on the ML and ATS in the L3 meetings played in the Barn. Minnesota leads the all-time series 53-19 on the ML. Go with the GOPHERS.....
TULANE GREEN WAVE (+12.5)
Memphis is in a major funk as of late and with the renewed play by the Green Wave, not sure why the bookies are loading this spread so heavy for the home favorite. Tulane took Temple to OT before suffering the 10-point setback last time out, a crushing blow to their backers on a +9.5 spread, and has now managed to keep 6-of-their-L7 losses to 10 points or less. They have virtually no chance of winning this game tonight, as they are currently mired in a 6-game losing streak on the road, although they do hold a 5-2 ATS record in their L7 away from home. The Green Wave has managed to cover 3 straight in which they were getting double-digit points as the underdog and they have tallied a 4-1-1 ATS mark in their L6 when getting 10+ points. Memphis has lost 4 straight and is 1-5 ML over their L6 overall, although they do also come into tonight's game holding a 4-1 ATS mark in their L5 overall. They have not been that money when laying the points recently, putting together a 1-6 ATS mark in their L7 games when playing as the favorite. They are 4-1 ML and 1-4 ATS in their L5 playing as the home favorite and they are 1-4 ATS when playing as a double-digit favorite this season overall and 2-7 ATS when laying 10+ points dating back to last season. Tulane is 4-2 ATS in the L6 meetings with the Tigers. Ride the TULANE GREEN WAVE as the double-digit dog again tonight......
FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL GOLDEN PANTHERS (+18.5)
This seems like a crazy line here as the Panthers have actually played Middle Tennessee State tough over the years and they have largely been keeping their losses much closer than this +18 point spread would suggest. Middle Tennessee State has won 3 straight meetings between the two schools, although FIU has posted a 3-1 ATS mark in their L4 games and a 6-2 ATS mark in their L8 meetings overall. The last 8 meetings have been decided by 13, 3, 1, 5, 13, 2, 4 and 2 points. The Panthers have also been keeping games close as of late, as they have only 2 losses all season by more than today's suggested spread and neither of those losses have come within the new year. The Panthers have lost 12 straight true road games this season, although they have posted a 6-4 ATS mark in those games listed with a point spread. Middle Tennessee State has won 7 straight on their home court in blowout fashion, yet not one of those wins came by more than 16 points and although they are 8-2 ATS in their L10 games played on their own campus, they have only produced one win in that span by more than 16 points and they would also own a 1-12 record in their L13 games there against today's spread. Take the FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL GOLDEN PANTHERS in this one.....
QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS (+1)
The Bobcats have owned the recent meetings between these two schools and should have the edge here again for this early afternoon affair. Quinnipiac has won and covered three straight meetings between the two schools and holds a 9-2 ML advantage in the L11 meetings between the two schools going back to 2010. The Bobcats also hold a 6-3 ATS edge in those 11 games, as the first two meetings came without a listed spread. Niagara also comes into today having lost 5 consecutive games overall and holds a 1-7 ML record in their L8 games overall. They are 2-6 ATS in those games. Niagara has also completely whiffed when playing as the favorite so far this season, posting an 0-3 ML and ATS mark in their 3 games this season in which the Purple Eagles were laying the points. The Bobcats have been pretty brutal themselves lately, as they are currently mired in a 6-game losing skid to close out the regular season and have posted an 0-5-1 ATS tally in those games. Quinnipiac was 1-2 ML in their 3 neutral court games this season, although they did post a perfect 3-0 ATS mark in those games, including a cover as a monster underdog against Gonzaga. They have dropped 4 straight when getting the points and are now 1-6-2 ATS in their L9 when getting the points. Take a chance on the QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS in this snooze-fest.....
