NEW YORK YANKEES (-125)
The Yankees are in a bit of a funk lately, but a visit to Minneapolis to face the Twins should help heal their ills. New York comes into this game having dropped 4 straight games with their starting rotation providing no help, allowing 18 ER and 30 H in their last 20 1/3 innings of work. That trend should be stopped tonight as Sabathia takes the hill and is absolutely rolling as of late, compiling 14 consecutive scoreless innings pitched and a 0.71 ERA over his L6 starts overall. He has taken care of the Twins with ease in his career, posting a lifetime 17-9 mark against the team and 3.20 ERA through 36 starts. Since coming to the Yankees he has been even better against Minnesota, putting together a 5-1 record and 3.47 ERA against them in that span. Although the Yankees are 4-8 ML in their L12 games on the road, the Twins are 6-10 ML in their L16 and shouldn't expect much from Gibson today. Gibson is 1-3 with a balky 10.72 ERA in 5 caterer starts against those Damn Yankees. Roll with the NEW YORK YANKEES in this match-up......
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (-130)
This has clearly been a mismatch of teams over the L2 games and we expect the same to happen again tonight. For starters, Happ is on the hill for Toronto and he has always pitched well against his former club, holding a 3-0 lifetime mark against them with a 1.56 ERA in 3 outings. He hasn't been nearly as effective over his L2 starts this season though, getting roughed up for 10 R in 12 IP, so we expect a nice bounce back outing for him today. Toronto is 18-8 in their L26 overall, while the Phillies come into this one with a 1-6 ML mark over their L7 overall. Even worse, the Phillies are a paltry 6-19 ML in their L25 contests. Go with the TORONTO BLUE JAYS on the road in this one.....
OVER 8 PIT PIRATES @ NY METS (+100) Have a feeling this is where Colon's season begins to take a turn. Plus, he squares off against Nicasio. Runs should be a plenty. Take the OVER......
OVER 10.5 BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ BOSTON RED SOX (-115)
This one should be full of runs when all is said and done, especially the way these two young pitchers have been getting scorched lately. Baltimore and Boston have also combined to score a total of 104 runs through the first 9 meetings this season and we expect that to continue tonight. Wilson has allowed 10 R in his last 9 2/3 IP, while Rodriguez with 9 ER over his last 10 1/3 innings of work. Baltimore has hit 32 HR over their L12 games overall. Expect a few more from both sides tonight. Roll with the OVER.....
WASHINGTON NATIONALS RL -1.5 (-115)
Washington rules, San Diego drools lately. Washington is 7-2 ML over their L9 and an ever better 12-4 ML in their L16 contests. The Padres are a dismal 11-24 ML against teams with a winning record this season, a team much like the NL-East leading Nationals. Roark is 2-0 with a 0.45 ERA in 3 games (2 GS) versus San Diego in his career, while holding a 0.81 ERA and .098 BAA when playing at Petco. Take the WASHINGTON NATIONALS on the RUN LINE tonight......
Best of luck to all tonight!! Let's get that money!!
