UTAH JAZZ (+10)
Okay so the Nets are a new and improved team this year but are coming into this contest fresh off a major thumping at the hands of the Orlando Magic by 21 in their last game, a pathetic outing in which they managed only a measly 86 points and were held to a dismal 38% from the field overall. Now they come back home where they will square off against a Utah Jazz team that has dominated them throughout recent years and has looked decent to start their new season, despite their punch-less 0-3 ML record so far. The Jazz have won 4 straight meetings against the Nets and have posted a blazing 8-1 ML record in their L9 meetings overall. That includes a 4-1 ML record in their L5 meetings on the Nets home court, and even with the Jazz posting an 8-4 mark in the L12 games against the Nets, three of those 4 wins have come by 8, 3 and 2 points respectively. Utah has also picked up the money for their backers in each of the L4 meetings, while also posting an 8-1 ATS mark in the L9 contests between the two franchises. And the Jazz have been playing some competitive basketball this season, losing their last game against Houston by 11, but dropping the previous 2 games against Phoenix and OKC by 3 points in both. They have yet to hit for more than 45% shooting from the field in a single game. On the other hand, Brooklyn has allowed each of their L2 opponents to make at least 47% of their FG attempts. Take the UTAH JAZZ as the double-digit road underdog.......
COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS (-125)
The Senators are currently in the midst of a major slide and the Blue Jackets should have enough to sneak away with a tough fought home win here tonight. Neither team has gotten off to any kind of a positive start this season, and although Columbus is also in the midst of a 3-game skid themselves, but they have managed to put together a 3-1 ML record in their L4 games when laying the odds as the favorite this season. The Jackets will be rebounding for the first time this season without scoring any goals in their previous game and despite being 2-7 ML in that situation over the L3 seasons, they have managed to put 4 goals in the net in 3 of their L4 of those games played. They have won each of the L3 meetings between these two squads on their own home ice and the home team has also managed to post a near perfect 7-1 ML record in the L8 meetings. McElhinney will be in net for the Blue Jackets tonight, and although he is the number 2 man on the totem pole, he has posted a 1-1-0 record in 3 appearances with a very impressive 1.55 GAA in those games. He stopped 24 of 26 shots against the Penguins in the Jackets 3-0 loss the other night, marking the first time this season he has allowed more than 1 goal in a game. He has never faced the Senators in his career, but then again neither has Lehner, who will most likely be in net for Ottawa tonight. The young net-minder has yet to pick up a win this season, posting an 0-2-2 record in his 5 games this season with a 2.73 GAA. Ottawa also comes into this match-up having lost 5 straight and 6 out of their L7 overall. The Senators have also been brutal when playing as the underdog this season, with a dismal 2-5 ML record in those 7 games this season and 3-9 ML in their L12 games as the dog dating back to last season. Skate with the COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS for the WIN on their home ice.....
