TODAY'S FREEBIE ACTION --
(NCAA BB)
DUKE BLUE DEVILS (-3.5)
This one should be a good ACC showdown like usual, but have to give the edge to a Duke team that is playing some excellent basketball once again. Syracuse has been money on their home court this season, as although they dropped their last game there against Louisville, 76-72 in OT, which snapped a perfect 7-0 ML and ATS run on their own campus. They now hold a 14-3 ML and 9-3 ATS record when playing in Syracuse and that includes a 3-1 ML and ATS record there when playing as the underdog. That loss against Louisville also actually snapped a 7-0 ML and ATS record in ACC home games dating back to last season and the Orange have now posted a 12-2 ML and 9-5 ATS record in their L14 conference games at home. On the other hand Duke is absolutely on fire right now, having picked up 7 consecutive wins in a row and the Blue Devils are now 8-1 ML over their L9 games. Duke has also picked up 3 straight wins on the road, going 2-1 ATS in those games as well, while they have also gone 3-1 ML and 2-2 ATS in the 4 games this season in which they were playing as a road favorite. Coach K has had his team ready to play in ACC action this season as usual, posting a 10-3 ML mark in their L13 conference games, with 8 of those wins coming by more than today's suggested spread. Syracuse did win the last meeting between the two schools last January, 64-62 in Duke, but the Blue Devils have now won 3-of-the-L4 meetings overall and have posted a 4-1 ATS mark in the L5 match-ups with the Orange. Duke is 5-11 ATS in their L16 overall and 3-8-1 ATS in their L12 on the road, but they should have enough to get it done here in New York here tonight. Go with DUKE.....
PITTSBURGH PANTHERS (+7)
There is something extremely fishy with this line as quite honestly the Panthers should really be the favorite here based on the way they are playing as of late. The Panthers come in having won 3-of-their-L4 games and have posted a 5-1 ATS mark in their L6 overall. Even though the Panthers are 3-9 ML and 6-6 ATS over their L12 contests, they have kept most of those losses close with 2-of-their-L3 losses coming by a mere 3 points or less. Pittsburgh has also been playing tough ball on the road and despite holding a 1-4 ML record in their L5 ACC games on the road, they are also 4-1 ATS in those contests and have had each of those losses come by 8 points or less, with 3 of them coming by 5 points or less. Pittsburgh is 5-2 ATS on the road this season overall with an impressive win at Maryland earlier this season and a 2-point loss at North Carolina in the mix. Wake Forest comes in having dropped 2 straight and 3-of-their-L4 overall, although they have been a much better team to back on their home court this season. They are 3-1 ML in their L4 games on their home court and 4-1 ATS over their L5 games played on the Wake campus. The Demon Deacons have been money when playing as the home favorite, holding a 6-0 ML record and 4-2 ATS mark in those games this season with each of those 6 wins coming by 12+ points or more. That might be a bit misleading however, as the only legitimate win in that span might be against Miami, with their L2 wins coming against a beleaguered NC State right now and a struggling Georgia Tech. Pittsburgh has won 3-of-the-L4 meetings between the two schools since 2014, although Wake Forest holds a 3-1 ATS record in those battles. The only win for Wake in that span came two seasons ago in a 69-66 win on their home court. Run with the PITTSBURGH PANTHERS in tonight's ACC affair......
